Leprosy
Although easy to cure when diagnosed in time, leprosy, probably the earliest documented disease (it is mentioned in 3500 years old Egyptian papyrus documents) is still causing great physical and psychological suffering and irreparable damage in countries with bad health care infrastructure.
The gratefulness and cheerfulness I could share with leprosy patients at the “Dr. Jose N. Rodriguez Memorial Hospital”/Philippines early in 2013 was an incredible moving experience. Remembering these moments, my own troubles and things that I feel go wrong in my life become negligible.
